To send a signal into the air, this kit contains a corrosion-resistant, 12-gauge safety launcher that works with the four 12-gauge, high-performance, aerial signals. This launcher features a hammer safety lock for more control. It fires the red, nighttime aerial signals up to 500' into the air. These aerial signals produce a red light with a brightness of 16,000 candela, and they each burn up to 7 seconds. This kit also contains 3 handheld emergency flares that boast a brightness of 950 candela, a 3-minute burn time, and they produce a 33% larger, brighter flame than competing flares. These flares exceed U.S. Coast Guard requirements for brightness and burn time, and they feature a no-perchlorate formula, which allows for easy disposal. Finally, this best-selling Orion signal kit contains 1 handheld orange smoke signal that burns and smokes for up to 1 minute. This signal is U.S. Coast Guard approved as an effective daytime distress signal. Note: It is illegal to ignite flares in a non-distress situation.
