Definitely one of my favorite pairs of socks!
Date:
I fell in love with them as soon as I tried them on! The arch support and gentle hugging all over was super comfortable and I wore them the rest of the day. I got them for work in Alaska and, though they're not as tall as I'd like for my rain boots, I still absolutely love them. They weren't as warm as my ragg wool socks, but my feet also tend to get cold easily. I'll probably buy a thicker sock for working the Alaskan winters, but even then I'd still go with Smart Wool. Agreed, they're expensive, but they're durable and super comfy. I wore these socks practically every other day for seven months due to limited packing space and they're still in excellent condition, which is saying something considering how much I put them through. As for the cold, they're also tight enough you could wear a pair of larger socks (like the ragg wool) over top of them for added warmth. I, too, have put these socks in the dryer and they seem to be just fine, though I haven't air-dryed them to compare the difference.

Love SmartWool!
Date:
You might think the price is awful at first, but they grow on you. They last forever! They are so easy-care, they have lasted me years. Another reviewer says don't dry them, shoot, I just was in warm or cold, throw 'em in to dry with everything else and they come out beautifully! After about 3-4 years of CONTINUOUS wear (I have about 10-12 pair, never thought I'd need only 10 pair of socks but they do me!) I am finally having to replace two of my original pairs because the heel is FINALLY starting to wear through. I used to have to toss a pair of socks a WEEK in the trash, because I walk so hard (I go through shoes, too), but not with SmartWool. They just keep on going!
Oh yeah, did I mention they are warm in the Alaska winters and cool and dry in the summers without being scratchy like ragg wool? I have never regretted my purchases of SmartWool Socks.

So soft and comfortable. Perfect for winter. But don't tumble dry them. They stay nice longer if you don't.
