Nicest looking boot I have bought.

I bought this boot to go on long hikes with my dog. We walk anywhere from 5 to 20 miles a week, sometimes just to the neighborhood park, but most of the time to parks with long trail systems. The trails are partial gravel roads, some of them go through wooded areas for miles at a time, the terrain varies from rocks, ruts, mud and some stream crossings.
I found the boot fit very comfortable right out of the box. I also like the looks, the color and the feel of the leather. The first time I wore them we walked only 2 miles and they felt really good. The next day we went on a 3 or 4 mile hike near the Potomac River on a trail that is well groomed, packed dirt up and down and they were perfect for that. Our following trip was another park near my home that has a large network of trails that are longer, rougher and more challenging. We usually go on 5 to 10 mile hikes there. Although the boots felt OK, as I wore them I noticed the leather beginning to stretch, the toe box is a little wide which presented a problem for me because my foot was slipping a little bit in there.
I think the boots are absolutely perfect for casual hikes, that are not demanding and don't require a lot of additional support. Perfect on dirt trails that aren't rocky and steep.Terrific with jeans, to go to the mall, the local park, the field trip with the kids, the football games etc. I need something a little tougher, with more support and that's why I returned them.
