I've had the misfortune of using many different types of chains and while I haven't used these chains yet They are built from a beefier steel. They also use cam locks to tighten which is a lot nicer than having to take your gloves off and freezing your fingers getting the old style hook bent over and latched.

Failed, but great chains.

These chains are excellent for the price. They are quite heavy welded links except for where the cross members attach to the outside chains. This is where mine failed. I was stuck and trying to get out, when one of the cross members bent free and swung around taking out my brake line. I've since welded those up but you can see in the image where this is unwelded. Still over all these are great chains for the price, you would pay twice as much for similar elsewhere.

Best safety net you can own

Spent 7 days at 10,000 ft in the CO high country on a DIY elk hunt. We had to get to the trailhead with our truck and trailer full of gear to establish camp at 10,500 feet. In mid October it snows almost everyday and we needed chains to get up the mountain and going down the mountain to control sliding. Chains were easy to install and a great "peace of mind" safety net. I now keep the chains in my truck all the time just in case I get into a tough off road situation.

Dry fit them, had to cut three links off the inner side.
31-15-10.5 is my size (size I ordered) They come to fit in a range. I kept the extra links on the outside and bungee'd them to a "tightener". extra links on the outside can easily be dealt with (and fit on other tires and rims) extra links on the inside can cause severe damage. All said, very happy with the product -"chained up all four" and cleaned the bottom of my truck in 18" of snow! stock 2003 Chevy S-10 ZR2
