A Solid Fly and Great Quality
Date:
The gold bead pheasant tail is a classic and very important fly to have in any serious angler's fly box. The quality of this fly is excellent. Furthermore, the price is very fair when compared to shopping for the same fly at other stores whether they be an online only or an actual brick and mortar store.

Best Little Nymph
Date:
The Pheasant Tail nymph is a must-have for every fly-fisher's fly box. It represents a whole bunch of tasty-looking bugs. When I'm going nymphing, it's the first fly I tie on and I usually have little reason to change it. I've used it to catch plenty of rainbows and sunfish in the little creek near my home (Philadelphia). It works everywhere - I caught a load of fish in South Africa on this pattern too. Like just about every fly, the key is presentation - you want to bounce this one along the bottom of the river. That's where the beadhead versions help so much, because they are already weighted. In most cases you'll also want to fish this one under a strike indicator. Warning: have a bunch of them on hand, because if you fishing it properly you're going to lose a few to snags in the river.
