I've used this type of sinker for years when trolling or drifting for Walleyes. I am able to maintain easy contact with the bottom and can change weights or add weight in a hurry. I can also easily and quickly vary the length of the snell with the use of a small lead shot stopper.

I use these sinkers for Perch fishing on Lake Michigan. They do the job of bringing a Crappie Rig down to the bottom in deep water just fine.
