Tested it at home and it worked fine using iced tea as an experiment. Went backpacking up to 10,000 feet and ended up with the plunger coming off inside the unit. We filtered about 5 liters of water before it broke. For the money it was a serious letdown. Ended up boiling water for the rest of the trip.
Took it on a 2 week moose hunt in Alaska it out performed other water filter systems in camp! I would take this thing with me anywhere. I was fast efficient and it held up to alaska for 2 weeks and that was in 2008
I recently traveled to Colorado for Elk. My old filter had broken, but I had my new Sweetwater purifying drops. I simply filled my 3 liter reservoir with clean running stream water and added the drops, 5 per liter. Water tasted good no sickness at all. My buddy continued to pump and use the drops, a lot of work for nothing. Drops alone ok if water is clear, Just my opinion. DD
I purchased this water purifier so that I would not have to carry water with me into the field. I was very disapinted when I opened the packege and statred to assemble the kit. The universal cap did not fit any of my water bottles very well, kept on falling off. the ounp is not balanced and required two hands to hold and pump the water through. I had to pump very slowly because the pump kept bypasing the filter with too much pressure. It took nearly 30 minuets to filter one galon of water, and I needed to find some very clear water before I started because the dirty water was not filtering clear. I have seen other products that work as advertised, this product did not even come close to working as advetised.
