The wiggle minnow has been one of my top producers the last couple years for both largemouth and smallmouth.
I like to start fishing it as a popper, then pull it underwater using a gentle sweep of my rod, then strip, pause, strip it back in.
In a stream, the fly works really well using a "soft hackle" swing in the current and then letting it hang below you, then strip it in. This has been a very productive technique for me for smallmouth.
Another little trick I use is to but a BIG silver swivel about a 24" ahead of the fly. This helps from keeping it from twisting...but even more important....it makes it look like the fly is chasing something! I've even tried it behind some of the walleye blades!
This fly works fantastic! Let it wiggle close to the weeds, or let it sit while the ripples go away and strap yourself in for a big bass! the Shad color worked really well for me.It's also very easy to cast, and it is an all around fun fly to fish with.
