I am on my second set of these studs, they grip ok but do tend to wear fast. While they are not carbide they do appear to work and so far I have not been failed by them. My only concern at this point is that I am thinking I could buy the same screws in an average hardware store. Will be looking into thiss option.
I have used these cleats for the last five years,The pros and cons~Pro they do have good bite,Con,they wear down quickly.I always buy an extra bag of them.
Although the screws are easy to install, I find they don't work well to reduce slipping on algae covered rocks. The screw heads are too large to bite in.
The Cabela's Ultralight 2 Lug (rubber sole) Wading Boots I ordered arrived without the screw-in cleats. Cabela's - as per usual - stood right behind their product and promptly sent me a package of the Chota Cleats for my new boots.
They worked just fine.
I now have two pairs of the boots - one felt sole and one rubber sole . . . and my grandson has one pair. Good boots in my experience.
