Cabela's Alaskan Guide® Model Gazebo

  • Durable canopy/gazebo
  • 100% waterproof full-coverage fly
  • Includes awning poles for front entrance
  • Sportiva hub system makes setup easy
To earn our Alaskan Guide name, this Canopy/Gazebo has to be the best – period. It's the most durable covering of its kind and the only full-coverage, complete stake-out and guy-out gazebo on the market. You can count on it to protect your outdoor events from weather and insects. It is constructed of 60-denier nylon with a special polyurethane coating and fully taped seams to repel moisture, making it tough enough for three-season use. The full-coverage fly also has taped seams and a waterproof, 1,200mm polyurethane coating. Convert the front fly into an awning with the supplied awning poles. Three zippered entrances afford easy access, and the fly and awning can be removed to create a comfortable mesh gazebo. Support comes from sturdy chrome steel poles and a Sportiva® hub system that makes setup easy. Sod cloth around the bottom perimeter lets you place sandbags on it for additional security. This shelter comes with poles, stakes and a convenient duffel-style carry bag. Imported.

Great concept but needs new design
Date:
While on weeklong fishing trip, lakefront winds reached around 60 mph and with the gazebo fully guyed and staked out, the fly material the Velcro is sewn to that attaches the fly to the pole ripped causing the pole to snap immediately. I would create a second gen. Gazebo with roll down waterproof walls, an awning that has one center pole as rain collects on the awning too and it should be designed to run off. The rain fly should be over the roof seams only (side protection from the roll down walls). But the guy ropes need to be attached directly to the pole i.e via carabiner to strengthen the long upright poles in the wind. Maybe you could make the waterproof material out of XTC fabric for even greater strength. Yeah, I know I'd like it to be bomb proof to but it is no fun having hard earned vacation cut short by a blown down campsite. I still think you guys are the best, but keep making them better and I will always believe that.

Not for the wind in NM!!!
Date:
I bought the gazebo June 2011. My family and freinds took it to the lake on fathers day. We got it up in the wind, we were able to make lunch. Then a gust came and broke 5 poles and tore the fly in two spots where the guy outs attach. I exchanged it for a new one, and in July took it to another lake in S.NM. We were with a large group that have fithwheel campers. We put it behind the campers, and when the wind came up and we put our SUV and 1ton trucks around the other sides and it did just fine. In Aug. we went camping to the same lake with just my family. We got in at night got the gazebo set up and within 2hrs. the wind broke 4 poles. We also own the Alsakan guide 8 man tent which has always been set up right next to the gazebo and we have never had a problem with it. I have purchased many products from cabelas and have always been very happy. But, I don't believe that this gazebo lives up to Alsakan guide quality. The poles need to be improved. I like the design of the gazebo it's great for shade, the fly is nice too. This gazebo is only for nice sunny days 1 season!!!

Great dinning fly
Date:
Every year my buddys and I go to Arazona in Febuary for a Javilina hunt. Where we camp is out in the middle of no where and we usually get a huge wind and rain storm wheile we are there. The year before we had wind that blew down our tents (not Cabelas) and we had to hang onto the pop up so it would not blow away.
Last year I brought the Gazebo and we set it up, waited for the storm and while the storm was worse than the previous year we were dry and warm in the gazebo.
It was large enough for 6 guys a table and while the storm raged we had grilled steaks and were happy.
The gazebo broke up the wind and protected our tent from the driving wind and the pouring rain.

Great product

I own North Countrt Hunting outfitting for dall sheep and grizzly in Alaska. I bought and used this gazebo in fly in sheep camp. It was great. It served for cooking and lounging for 4 men. It took rain and 35 mph winds no problem. Everyone admired and praised it. Easy to set up and stable once staked down. It is a perfect complement to the 6 man Cabela dome tents I have used for years. It is worth every penny.
