Because we know your faithful retriever hunts just as hard as you do, we reengineered our neoprene vests to provide a custom fit and added durability. The Neoprene Flotation Vest with Armor-flex™ Chest Protector gives your dog the added benefit of extra buoyancy to stay afloat during those long-water retrieves. Chest Protector, crafted of Amor-flex™ material used to reinforce highwear areas in hunting waders, runs the entire length of the neck, chest, and belly. The seams have been enhanced with extra bartacks for making custom cuts, plus the Velcro® closure has been widened for increased adjustment in fit. Two side pockets with 5mm closed-cell flotation foam helps your dog stay afloat in ice-cold waters. Dogs come in all shapes and sizes. Not all of them fall perfectly within the guidelines of our sizing chart. When ordering, choose the size that coincides with the largest sizing bracket reached by any one of your dog’s three measurements.

wonderfull addition to the gear

Love the vest the only reason it doesn't get a 5 star is the cross stitching to keep the main stiching from unraveling sould be more numerous and farther into the available adjustment areas. My dog has a large chest cavity but is sort in body length. I had to get the xl to accomidate for the chest and the vest had limited adjustment area on the length. It was easy enough to make work just had to take up sowing for a minute.

I recently purchased this for my 12 yr old, 75 pound lab/german shepherd mix and we immediately brought her to the water in it. She has always been a water dog but has never worn clothing of any kind so we were a bit concerned about what her reaction would be. First she just rolled over onto her back and didnt want to move but then we threw her toy for her and she completely forgot it was on. Every time since she hasn't minded at all! She has a narrow chest so It did take a bit of trimming to get the fit just right in the front but it was helpful to use chalk to draw the cut line while she was wearing it. It was great to see her swim so much easier. I love that it will protect her from sticks and things she may land on when she jumps in. I love that it keeps her boyant and a little higher in the water, she takes in less water now. I think it keeps her warmer as well, she didnt seem to mind the cold of February on the Oregon Coast! I definetly recommend this product and will buy one for all my dogs in the future!!!

great quality but funky fit

this is such a well made great looking item but the fit is a little weird, Cabelas has great customer service so id highly recommend ordering more than one vest size/style to check out in person if your not near a store. I have a real heavy duty life jacket for the boat but my dog hates it so I thought this would be great for a little extra protection scuffling in and out on the riverbank. My cattle dog is built just like a small lab so I thought this would work but its both too small and too large at the same time somehow! Here's her size if your trying to gauge: 45lbs / 26"girth / 24" belly / 17" neck / 18" length / 15" chest from armpits... ordered a Large wanting it to fit snug. The chest & neck area seems to fit great (part in between the legs can be trimmed down if its too wide), she's right inside the Lg bracket but the back velcro has to be pulled tight like a corset to fit, would try an XL but the back length is already so long that its folding over her back legs (would be really uncomfortable under there for a male!), might be able to trim that back a little but if it were longer i wouldnt want to trim into the flotation pocket, plus then the chest would be too big. The really weird thing is that there's these big 'wings' of extra material right over the shoulders that dont go away no matter how you adjust it, can imagine on a larger size these would be even bigger so Im just not sure how that would be modified, like you'd have to cut out a full 3" triangle off the shoulders on each side and glue or stitch it back together. Overall it would be a great product if it fit so its worth trying out but expect to pull out some gorilla glue & a sewing kit when it arrives. Im going to try out the Avery version (cabelas) and see if the fit is any better, grab handles on that model would also be useful

The vest fit just like they said it would. There was the normal trim to fit and camo pattern was excellent. I had my last vest for many hard hunting years and only bought a new one to replace a lost one. I would definately recommend this vest to any hunter.
