Last Oct I purchased this unit before hunting season started to get a jump start on sealing meat. I figured this would be the best buy for the money but I figured wrong. Between me and my boyfriend bringing 5 deer and 1 antelope to be processed, this unit was not equipped to handle what we had. After only 8-10 bags sealed up it over heated. So you can imagine my frustration. It is however a good unit for sealing meat from shopping trips, etc. I returned the unit for another one thinking that my foodsaver was faulty. The next one i brought home would overheat after 6 seals! I returned this and got a commercial grade sealer and am completely happy with what we have!
So if you are a hunter and process your own meat, this is not the sealer I would recommend using! For the non hunter its sufficient!

I purchased this product to save money. The first one didn't work out the box. The door was jammed. The second one worked two times then the door jammed.
Just received third one and hope it works but not holding my breath. They definitely have a problem with the gear in the door.

I love not wasting food!

I've had this model for four months and love it. I haven't had one bit of trouble with it. I use it when buying bulk amounts of meat on sale & sealing left overs. I love being able to effectively seal all my foods and keep them longer. It has saved me a lot of money already! It's easy to use - I've trained the kids to use it for left overs and how to properly open the bags so we can re-vacuum and seal any unused food in the same bag. It's a wonderful system!!

Won't Seal Anything Wet

This is a good looking sealer and nice and portable but the unit WILL NOT seal anything that is wet or leaves a wet residue on the inside of the bag where the sealing takes place. The hot bar that seals the bags is either to small or not hot/high pressure enough to bond the plastic bags in the presence of moisture. You can only get a reliable seal on items that are dry or frozen. I returned mine and got the commercial one that Cabelas has.
