FoodSaver Marinaders are the Greatest
Date:
I actually own 6 of the marinade canisters (both sizes), I've been using this for years & no problems yet. I use them for marinading steaks, chops, fish, ect.., also I use them for making homemade fishing bait, The only drawback is that they don't make them in larger sizes!

CANISTERS
Date:
Yep, mine crack also. I'm thinking of a way to save the container by sealing the bottom.
BTW: Foodsaver's products are less expensive at retail stores....so unless you live in a very remote area...go shopping.

Why do they crack?
Date:
I have had numerous problems with cracking after about 3-4 years. Also remember top dishwasher rack...one warped when washed in lower rack...

Love them! Love them! Love them!

I have been a huge Food Saver fan for over 20 years! My first vacuum sealer was the commercial style that was sold on TV. I have tons of canisters and some of mine have cracked lately - but I expected it to happen. If you read the insert that comes with the canisters, it tells you that they are NOT dishwasher safe. I did it anyway, as most people don't want to wash by hand. Even with the cracks, most of mine still work. If you don't get a good seal, it is usually the LID causing the problem. Take out the grey rubber tip on top, and take off the cap from the bottom. Switch them with another canister lid, making sure that bottom cap makes a snapping noise when you put it on -- that tells you you'll get a good vacuum. Another thing I do is gently twist the lid on the canister, to ensure the rubber gasket is engaging on the lip of the canister. I'm a huge stocker-upper person, and we purchase alot of clearance meats, so we'd be lost without the Food Saver product line. I just wish they'd make a canister line that was stackable, for the fridge or the pantry. But thanks Food Saver - I love ya!
