The unique pot design, made from walnut, fits fingertips perfectly. The loud, pure turkey sounds produced by these calls will scream through even the windiest of days and will cover hundreds of yards. Darker color maintains concealment in the field. Made in USA. Available: Scarface Glass, Scarface Slate.
I'm not a "die hard" turkey hunter, but I knock down my limit every year. I usually use slate or alumina, but a few friends suggested I try a glass this season so I bought the Scarface Glass.
Boy was that humbling!!! I thought I knew how to play pot calls, but obviously I was mistaken! It took me a while, but I finally got it figured out, and I'm definitely not "confident" nor "proficient" with the glass yet, but it DOES make a really good sound when I'm doing my part. Playing the call isn't the hard part, but treating the surface of glass is much more demanding. I had to have one of my buddies show me how to properly surface it so it would even make a sound at all!
If you're a glass user, then you'll be able to make great sounds on this call, but buyer beware, if you're not a glass caller, it'll take a little practice.
Very good call if you are unable to use a mouth call. The trick is to never let the pen leave the slate and to be sure to scuff it up with sand paper befor each hunt.
This call sounds GREAT...However there is too much excess glue between the walnut case and the slate...For the money, it should also look great. Right? Just looks a little sloppy.
