Bad reel seat
Date:
Like this rod, but the reel seat started twisting and made the rod unusable on my last trip. It is almost new, I just now used some Epoxy on it and hopefully it will be all right now.
Its a cheap rod, so if this works I'll be happy.

Best Bang for the Buck
Date:
I had a pair of these that I used with Dipsy Divers and Big Jons for 15 years until a pair of idiots on Jet Skis buzzed my anchored boat and broke them. I've just re-ordered another pair. Barring any futher "incidents" they will last me the rest of my life as well as my son's. Equipment used in my boats is subjected to serious abuse by clients. High price gear won't hold up or last any longer with a boat full of fisherman at night or daytime for that matter. When you have 3 or more rods with hook ups it can best be described as "Controlled Chaos".

Ageless Tough
Date:
I purchased this rod in 1996 before moving to Cordova Alaska. Fished this rod for several dfferent species of salmon several years. Moved back to Wyoming and use this rod for trolling and catfishing. Today found this rod with a broke guide and decided it was time for a new star fire rod and ordered two. What a tough big fish rod that stands up to 40 lbs + king salmon.

eagle claw starfire trolling rods
Date:
when you can buy these rods on sale get a bunch of them. not top of the line but, definately not the bottom of the barrel. plenty of eyes to carry the strain of trolling. they hold up well with mono line. not so well with superbraid. very hard to break them. YOU can bust them, a fish can't. highly recommended. they would make a great catfish rod with a baitcasting reel. the foam handles last a long time and feel good in on a wet, cold day. don't slip as much as cork and don't discolor.
