I have had 8 of these for 5 years, and use them exclusively for trolling; mostly idiot baits. I pull deep diving cranks at 1.4 mph and faster for hours at a time, and these reels hold up well. I've landed 8lbs striped bass, flat head catfish, a few muskie, boat loads of crappie, and the drag has never failed me.

They do the job well, but could do it better. Occasionally the line counter sticks, and if you pay out a lot of line before noticing having to reel it back in and start over is a pain. But this is easy to avoid by watching it count out the first 3-5 feet; if it doesn't stick in the first few feet it usually doesn't stick.

The line counter itself sticking out to the side of the body is awkward, and if I were buying again I would look very carefully at models with a different configuration.

It is a nice reel. I snagged a 47 inch spoonbill with it this fall near gavins point.

BEST REEL I EVER OWNED....

Recently needed a new reel and decided to shop around.

Let me tell you being married for about a year and a 2 month old.....money is scarse and tighter than ever, but i gotta fish.....

So did a lot of research online and let me tell you for the price of the 55 and the performance just WOW.......

I dont know how they do it but i will never buy any other brand.

i have used these types of reels for years. and by far this is the best for your money. nothing else really comparse to me . i love this reel for catfish really any big game fish. i think abu garcia is the best and where i;m from alot of others think the same. thanks for your great products.
