Very bad design
Date:
I am pretty good with machining and tools and a good thing as I had to forget the directions and do it my way. This hydrofoil as is will not fit a Mercury Motor. No way not without modification.
I ended up modifying it a bit, and putting over the cavitation plate, and then drilling holes to secure it to the fin on the motor.
Now the other problem is the slots for the bolts are not large enough to allow even a thin wall socket to be used to secure the nuts.
Someone went to sleep on this design and it is not well thought out at all. Every step you take with this thing you need to modify something. And it would be so simple to just make a round hole for the cavitation plate area and to make the bottom slots in a way that one can get a socket over the nut.
Not well thought out at all, and miss-advertised in the catalog as it is not a no drill installation on a mercury motor.

Bad advertisement

The product advertises no drill no hassle installation u can install in 5 minutes well on my 01' 25 hp mercury i installed it in 5 minutes after an hour of modifying product. The hole on the underneath side needs to be modified to fit around you trim tab and to slide around the lower unit underneath cavitation plate. After installation was done however it did increase my top end speed and my hole shot. Happy after installation complete.

It dosent fit a Mercury
Date:
Purchased this product for my 50hp Mercury. Will not bolt on with out some sort of modifaction, either by notching the hydrofoil or drilling the cavataion plate. Once installed, product worked great although I lost about 3 mph in top speed. Boat now ride smooth and I can run at shallower depths. I expected better for the price of this product.

StingRay XRIII Junior hydrofoil
Date:
I have a plain 16' fishing boat with a 30 hp motor with tiller control. With my weight and that of the trolling motor battery and gas tank in the back I could never see over the bow when motoring at top speed. StingRay XRIII Junior hydrofoil has made a big difference. Within a short time after throttling up the StingRay XRIII levels out my boat and it has helped decrease the amount of water displacement so I can go faster than I did without it. It is worth the money. I highly recommend it.
