StingRay™ Stealth Hydrofoil Stabilizer

    • Get up on plane faster
    • Eliminate chine walking, porpoising and cavitation
    • Enjoy higher speeds and greater fuel efficiency
    • Easy no-drill installation
Optimize the performance of your boat and motor at all speeds with a Stealth Hydrofoil. Its dual-angle-of-attack wing design gets your boat up on plane in less time than without a hydrofoil. Chine walking and porpoising are eliminated, and bow rise is greatly reduced. Enhanced efficiency delivers true stabilization and wipes out cavitation. Improved performance increases fuel efficiency so you’ll have more time on the water between fill-ups. You’ll also find that pulling skiers is much easier and your top speed will increase. Easy no-drill installation. Exciting two-tone styling. For 75hp to 300hp motors.
Colors: Black, White, Gray.

So far so good
Date:
As my title suggests, I'm satisfied with the product so far. I have had my boat, with 115 Mercury OptiMax, out more than a dozen times with the Stealth installed. Overall, I am completely satisfied with the product. The installation was easy, with no additional tools needed, but they could have included more thread lock, be very careful to not use more than a drop per set screw, or have more on hand. The Stealth does get my 18' Alumacraft on plane much faster, whether I'm alone in the boat or have two or three passengers and has greatly reduced bow rise. Before installation, bow rise was terrible and it took forever to level out, now it is almost nonexistent. With the use of tilt and trim porpoising has also been significantly reduced, but I wouldn't say completely eliminated, but fishing in Kansas involves a lot of wind and mixed with higher speeds will always require manipulation of tilt and trim to prevent porpoising. As far as fuel efficiency, I already had an extremely fuel efficient motor and did not buy the product for that purpose, so I haven't tracked fuel use, but I know it hasn't hurt fuel use any. The reason I gave the product 4 stars instead of 5 is the claim of increased higher speeds. This is just not true. After installation, I found that I had dropped in max speed somewhere between 3 to 5 miles an hour. If you are looking at this product for increasing your speed, I would look elsewhere. This seems to be a consistent criticism in the reviews of all StingRay Hydrofoils. In my case, I am on small Kansas lakes and speeding from fishing hole to fishing hole is short and the loss of speed doesn't affect me much, plus I spend most of my time trolling anyway.

good product but needs attachment
Date:
I mounted this stabilizer on my 200 horse merc and it worked great . . . for a while. It definitly reduced the bow hopping issue that I had, and it really flattened out my plane, allowing me to trim up and gain speed. A week later it fell off, somewhere in the lake. I am purchasing another one but this time will take additional means to fasten, i.e. perhaps a bolt through the cavitation plate.

Single Use Hydrofoil
Date:
I purchased this hydrofoil despite reading several reviews of the product falling off upon first use. I installed exactly as directed and allowed the LocTite to cure well over the minimum 24 hours. As a mechanical engineer, I was surprised to find that there were no torque specifications listed for the locking screws. The instructions had only a vague, subjective direction to fully tighten. The kit also included a small, somewhat useless allen key to install them. I used my own tools. In the end, the hydrofoil lasted for a few minutes as I noticed that it was gone upon lifting the prop for the first time. Save you money for fuel. Would never recommend.
