When we introduced the Depthmaster Gold series in 2002, we wanted to bring you the best-built series of trolling reels for the money. With this same mission in mind, we sat down with our engineers and improved upon this series for 2005. Every model still features our precision machine-cut frame and brass gears, plus the smooth cranking and fish fighting power of a three bearing drive. To this we added an oil-impregnated bushing on the main gear, which releases oil when this gear heats up, to reduce possible sticking or grabbing when a fish makes a big run. The multidisc Rulidium drag system has been improved by adding high viscosity grease, which increases smoothness and prolongs gear life. Our engineers also moved the bearings on the main shaft, so they are equal distances apart which stabilizes the spool, and provides a better free spool when letting out line. Stainless steel, titanium-coated line guides easily handle the toughest braided lines, superlines and lead core. Reel has a line capacity of 430 yards of 25 lb. test and a gear ratio of 4.0:1.
