Transom Destroyer 5000
Date:
Horrible design. The spring assembly allows the support pole to rotate after shock/vibration. Then hitting a bump caused the support pole to release from the trailer frame mount, hit the ground, then pole-vault my motors lower end into the air. Happened to me twice on a 350 mile trip causing 100's of dollars of damage to my outboard. I was acually pleasantly surprised that my lower unit stayed attached to my motor, and my transom stayed attached to my boat. I finished the trip with the transom destructor in the bed of the truck. Wish I could have given it 0 stars. First Cabelas branded item I've been completely dissatisfied with. I will be warning every boat owner I know to NOT purchase this product if they like their boat.

Excellent item, very well made, heavy duty. Use it on my 150 HP 4 stroke Yamaha and performs well. Would recommend to others.

Does what it's supposed to do.
Date:
Easy to install it only took about 15 minutes. I travel alot of bumpy roads. You can feel the difference immediately. It really firms up the travel so your not looking in your mirror at your outboard bouncing up and down with every bump. It does what it claims to do simple as that. It stops the outboard from constantly pulling at the transom with every bump in the road. It probably doubles the life of the boat.

Cabel's spring loaded Transom saver
Date:
Very well built. Easy to enstall. The reason it didn't get 5 stars was that it is possible for the load saver to get out of the frame mount receiver. Not probable but possible. The other drawback is that the rubber strap that clamps around the engine is not adjustable. It is too long for smaller motors. Fortunately, I had components to make a shorter strap.
