  • Quick-Lock cam secures the motor shaft
  • Indestructible composite shaft

Traxxis Transom-Mount Motors are designed with the power, reliability and functions you expect from Minn Kota. An exclusive bracket design allows the motor to be stowed with one hand without releasing levers or buttons to push. The motor is also easily deployed in 10 different positions. The Tilt Extend Tiller allows the handle to tilt up to 45° while simultaneously extending up to 6" for optimal control and comfort. The handle folds for easy storage. Change depths simply and securely with Traxxis Quick-Lock cam adjuster. It makes depth adjustment simple and locks in tight to keep your motor right where you want it. The innovative collar above the Traxxis mount allows you to adjust steering tension to your desired level. You can keep it loose for effortless steering or tighten it down to keep Traxxis in place, allowing for true vertical stowing. Multiple shaft interface points greatly improve steering tension. Digital Maximizer™ technology provides up to five times longer run time on a single charge, and it controls the draw of power at variable speeds to conserve battery power and extend run time. A push-to-test battery gauge provides an instant readout of your current charge to maximize your time on the water. An indestructible composite shaft flexes on impact and it’s guaranteed for life. The Traxxis 55 delivers 55 lbs. of thrust and runs on a 12-volt battery. Made in USA.

Not Good
Date:
Pulled the new motor out of the box and couldn't believe my eyes. Unlike the display models in the store and photos we've all seen, the graphics were plastered all over the side of the control head, both sides, with seemingly no thought given to spacing or elevation. You could barely even read that it was a Minn Kota. It looked like a pre-school art project. My wife saw it and thought I was playing some kind of trick on her. Tried to peel them off and re-stick correctly but that didn't work so I just threw them away.
Test trip to local lake because I had a big fishing vacation coming up, and didn't want any problems. The motor performed, although it didn't seem to spool up as indicated on the tiller control. I was less than amazed at the power.
Off on vacation for eight days at two high lakes in Idaho. Unloaded the camper and launched the driftboat, flyrod at the ready. Dead motor - I mean not even a whimper. Usual checks and re-connects, it was dead. New group 31 deepcycle battery showed and tested full charge. Paddled back to the ramp and tested the motor on both truck ignition batteries. Both batteries showed full charge and started the diesel right up, but the Minn Kota was still dead. Vacation ruined and came home five days early.
Cabela's honored my return request and didn't even ask why, which was a good thing cuz I was and am still mad.
This product is junk, and will be my last from Minn Kota.

Turns your Jon Boat into a "jet" boat
Date:
Is this motor perfect? No, but its close. I have a Traxxis 55 Varible speed bow mounted on a 14 Alumacraft model 1436. 9.5 Evinrude on the stern and a BIG deep cycle battery. First test run was on a electric only lake close to home and I had a blast. Wide open for a couple of hours just playing, 7 mph according to my GPS. It was a "hoot". Tore around leaving a 4/5 inch wake and it just sipped the battery. 2 1/2 hours at 10 amps and I was at full charge. Extra money for the maximizer is worth every penny. BUT if you intend to bow mount it had better be ROCK solid, no clamp on garbage. Welded or thru bolted. If you can move the mount at all this motor will trash it. I learned the hard way. Some other reviews addressed vibration, my mount is pressure treated wood back, front and top over aluminum. Took care of that..... Reverse is just reverse, never seen an electric or any outboard that "zoomed" in reverse. Clamp on mount works well, thou I would prefer a metal one. And the tilt mechanism is easy to use. Varible speed is great, VERY quite at the lower end "fishing" settings. I would buy another one tomorrow. This is the best motor on the market today for its class. But be prepared for some serious torque when you max it out.

Awesome! Quiet! Powerful! Efficient!
Date:
I bought this motor for my 15' square stern canoe. I wanted the variable control to be able to troll efficiently, yet I wanted the 55 lbs of thrust to function as primary power source.
I could not be more pleased with this motor. I will fish all day and only run down my battery half way. The motor is super quiet and very low vibration.
It was expensive, and I really questioned the value. After running the motor a few times, I feel like it was an excellent purchase. The efficiency is just fantastic.
I have seen some poor marks regarding the mount. I don't know if earlier models were different, but the mount seems very well built and substantially strong.
Very pleased with this purchase and I feel the motor justifies the cost.

better than expected
Date:
the previous reviews give this motor a bad rap. the clamp fastens securely to the boats transom. the motor itself bounces a little when trailering, but a bungy cord would solve that issue. i just remove move it since i dont leave my trolling motor in my boat. pushed my 15ft roughneck into the 30+ mph wind with 2 ft rollers at my local lake and was noticably gaining ground at 100%.(with no weight in the front)
