Compatible with all Moultrie cameras built in 2007 or later. Innovative software uses a combination of a solar panel and
built-in 12-volt battery to extend camera life in the field. Weather-resistant. Included 10-ft. cord allows for optimal
sunlight gathering placement. Easily mounts to a tree, pole, or Moultrie camera tripod.
I have had two of these on two different cameras for about three months (OCT-DEC).
One setup is in a clear field with a clear view of the sun most of the day. The other is set in the woods and recieves mostly indirect sunlight.
Both cams are set to take videa adn get about 10-20 vids a week. Both setups have been working well. The woods setup still maintains over 90% batter life.
My Moultrie trail cams eat a ton of batteries so I decided to try this solar unit. It was a total bust. The battery in the solar panel would go flat after two cloudy days. The only way I can see that this unit might be effective is if you live in the SW, Florida or some other sunny climate. I live in the NE and it is too gray here for that unit to be practical given it's current limitations. What I have done that turned out to be more practical was get a cabela's 12 volt battery of the type in the Stealth cam battery pack, get a couple of alligator clips some wire and a plug that will fit the Moultrie exterior power port and make a power cord to connect the 12v battery to the camera. With this set up I can get about two weeks battery life while taking 50-80pictures a day.
the power panel worked fine right up until the time when the camera quit, now I have a power panel and no camera. Moultrie offered to sell me another camera but I'll be buying another Cuddeback.
I think moultrie has a good idea they just need to put some quality into there ideas. I'm on my second PP and getting ready for a third...they all worked great for a few months but then the battery doesn't hold a charge...or the LCD screen is not giving the correct readings. In the process of sending it in for repair.
