Poor case
Date:
If you mount this case with a lag bolt the camera won't fit in it. If you mount it on a flat surface the cover won't close. Very poor design.

Should work alright

I was nervous about this purchase because of all the cruddy reviews. However I think this product will do what it is intended to do. That is keep your camera safe from marauding bears. It seems to be marketed as an item that makes your camera become theft proof. This in reality isn't possible, as I don't think there is a product on the market that will keep people from stealing anything if they want it bad enough. I give it 4 stars for a couple reasons. First the lid and latch is a poorly executed plan, because once you bolt the box to a tree the lid becomes hard to close because you have to jam the lip of it between the tree and the box. Secondly a side opening box would be more user friendly and allow more protection in the form of a brace in front of the sensitive lens, and pir etc.

for mounting to tree ok, theft poor, locks a joke
Date:
I have 7 boxes placed through out several hundred acres, they work wonderful to attach to trees of all types large or small and branches that straps don't work on, but the locks freeze up in warm weather, you better have bolt cutters to get your camera's out. Saturday I had to return home to get my bolt cutters to get in 5 of my own boxes. These boxes are over priced for security (human predators), but the bears rub their backs on them and seem to let the camera alone. i would recommend use for attaching to tree purposes only. They give you many more choices where to place them in the woods or around your home.

Doesn't work against theft
Date:
I was using 4 of these cameras 2 were inside bear boxes, & bolted to trees with 4, 3 ½ screws in each box. Thieves, trespassers, came onto my own property, pried one box off the tree and stole it and another that was just strapped to a tree. They found the cameras after trying to push my gate open with their truck. They were determined to get the evidence. I hope they read this. When you steal cameras don’t leave the batteries there with your fingerprints on them. Don’t get your truck stuck while trying to turn around, and have to walk out a half mile to meet someone to come and pull you out. Don’t leave your lug wrench with your fingerprints on it. Don't stop & smoke a cigarett while you figure out waht to do, and leave it with fingerprints on it. Make sure you find all the cameras. Idiot rednecks, both of you. The Sheriff is looking for you.
The box is too light weight. Too east to pry the lid off. Not enough debth to the box to use large screws.
