Lid Cam
Date:
I have the Lid Cam and LOVE it. After some practice in the yard shooting my bow, I found the "sweet spot" on my hat to get the target right over my pins. I read alot of reviews and saw some great and some not so great. I decided to try it after calling Rhino themselves. The customer service is great and the guy took time to answer all the questions I had and helped me by offering tips to get the shot angle I was after. I couldn't be happier with the camera. The video is great, the audio is clear and crisp and the ease of use is amazing after you take the time to watch the instructional video and learn to use it. Thanks Rhino and Cabela's for a great product that will allow me to bring home my outdoor experience.

Great idea, poor product
Date:
I have had the Rhino lid cam for a little over a month. I have used it for duck and coyote hunting. Here are my observations.
Pros
Very easy to use in the field, you can turn it on and record with out looking at the camera.
The video has good sound when your talking and in the wind.
The battery life is good I have never had the battery die I used it all day several times.
The camera is light weight you will forget it's there.
The video it takes is not bad at all, under one condition you don't move your head.
Cons
While hunting you are always moving your head, the more you zoom the worse it is. The first couple of videos I couldn't even watch, it made me sick.
I have yet to figure out the zoom, no matter what zoom I record in, everything past 30 yards is out of focus.
You have to wear your hat pointing up or all your video is of the ground 20 feet in front of you.
Blowing a mouth call to loud will distort the video.
I have taken several shots at animals with the camera on but nothing on video yet, my hat or the angle seems to be wrong, or out of focus every time.
All this being said, I own it so I will try it for turkey and elk this fall. Those should be close up shots. I got mine on sale so the price I paid doesn't make me to upset. I might get lucky and get a cool video. If I figure out the best angle and focus, and I get some good videos. I will post another review.

Great theory in theory, But not in the field
Date:
This camera only works after sunrise or barely before sunset. I had to shim it, turn my hat to the right and push it way up on my head to catch the shot. Took a lot of time to find a way to set it up to see what I was shooting @. I would classify my head as average and was wearing a tight fitting hat.One of the clips broke from shimming it and the quality of the video was not that great. I wish I could say that i could use as a head lamp, but the led's sucked too. This camera is great in theory, but does not perform.

Good, not great
Date:
Have expiremented with this product over the last month in a variety of situations. The ability to change the camera angle by 30 or 60 degrees in either direction is a plus. Likewise, its weight and picture clarity within 30 yards is adequate. The product works well shooting a bow. When shooting a rifle with scope, the product hangs too low and raises my cap as it rests on the top of the scope. I wish the camera angle could be raised as it is about 30 degrees too low. I have to raise my head in addition to adjust brim of cap high to get everything in field of vision.
