Unlike trail cameras, that trigger on short-range motion, the Plot Watcher captures images of an area at specified time intervals regardless of how far the subject is from the camera. This greater field of view allows hunters to see game animal travel patterns that would otherwise go undetected. With this ability, you can preview an area and make an educated decision about when and where to hunt. It records HD video of all the activity that happens in the days before you hunt. Images are taken every five or ten seconds from dawn until dusk, producing a HD video. With time-lapse video, you can review a full day of activity in 2-3 minutes. Setup is easy with just one button. Simply select the time-lapse interval on the selector wheel, insert a USB drive (not included; 8GB recommended), turn on the TLV unit and it’s ready to scout. Includes GameFinder Software with MotionSearch that makes viewing your videos easy. Scroll frame by frame or view at the desired replay speed. Forward and reverse features let you review specific segments of video over and over again. The program also helps you build and share a library of HD video clips and pictures. Operates on four AA batteries (not included).

This item is Awesome, it shows me exactly what is around. Where I live, you cannot hunt deer at night...as with everywhere else, so this shows me what is moving during hunting hours. If you use it enough you will get an image of all deer in the area as well as where the are coming from and going. I am extremely happy with this camera.

As stated in previous reviews by others this camera starts up to late in the A.M. and shuts down to late in the P.M. to be of much use to hunters in my area . The date and time settings are not of much use either unless you program it just before you set it out . Picture quality is good and it should do well if used on a game farm where the animals feed over food plots during daylight hours .

I purchased this plot watcher from the bargain cave. I tend to question the cabela's outfitters most of the time about the product, to make sure that there was nothing wrong with the merchandise. I really enjoy this camera, it's understandable that it doesn't take evening to night picture... but this is not what it's designed to do. It was designs to view your plot during the day to see what's coming in and out "during shoot hour light". What I have done and seems to be most successful is put the plot watch over my plot (soy beans, young corn, hunting field) and then place a trail camera, on a traveled path, that feel a buck might be entering or exiting. That way you can ultimately know wether that buck you've caught glimps of during the velvet season is hanging up in the wood until night fall and maybe have to set up 20-30yrds in the woods to drop the hammer on that ghost.
For best result with your plot watch:
Rechargeable Batteries (saves you money long term)
Locate Plot Watcher in an area that gets maxium sunlight exposer to extend video time frame. (I have gotten video from about 1 minute after sun up - sun down)

great but with a few flaws

used my plotwatcher all last season from summer right through muzzleloader season, is useful as you can see so much more area than a trail camera gives you, the only down falls that i wish they would fix are the battery life is pretty bad, 4 AA's in the warm weather i get about a week, and in the cold fall i get about 4 days from a new set, not very good, and thats not even with it recording all day, i had it set so it recorded from sunrise for 3 hours, and from 3 hours before sunset until sunset. My other issue with this is it doesnt record early enough or late enough, the thing shuts off at sunset, it needs to be able to record for about another half hour, overall it is a useful tool, but i wish they would fix those two problems
