Cabela's Traditional Hawken Flintlock Rifle - Right Hand

This right-handed flintlock rifle has a hefty 29" octagonal barrel with a 1-in-48" twist that delivers excellent hunting accuracy. The clean, functional lines suit traditionalists, while our fully adjustable sights appeal to serious hunters and target shooters who demand the utmost in accuracy. Top-grade walnut stocks with brass trigger guards, curved buttplates, forend caps, ferrules and ramrod fittings make a handsome package. Color case-hardened locks contain hefty coil springs. Each rifle has a safe, solid hooked breech and latch pin for easy barrel removal and cleaning. Adjustable double set triggers are also standard.

Nice gun for the money,the only problem i seen with the one i bought was the touch hole was not lined up with the middle of the flash pan.I replaced it with one that had the hole drilled off center,easy fix.The sights are not that great will replace those also.The fit and finish was decent except for the touch hole issue.It will be a good hunting rifle.

.54 Flintlock Hawken

Excellent buy, but not quite ready out of the box. Throw away the rear sight and install the Williams version that Cabelas sells (the front sight in the kit does not fit well). Use a good metal paint to color the bead on the front sight (I used a brass color). The main trigger (which should be the one used for hunting) was truely horrifying. The pull was extremely hard and it creeped with a "snag" part way through. I replaced the flint with a piece of wood and just kept pulling the trigger to work polish the sear on the lock. It worked and I now have a reasonable front trigger pull. Overall, it is the best bang for your buck!!

Although not a period true Hawken, this is a great looking gun. Beautiful walnut grain in the stock. Solid lock.. Will probably replace sites with fiber optics, but otherwise a very nice looking gun.
