The Brown Bess was used by British troops during colonization of American territories. It also saw action during the War of 1812 and during the Mexican-American War. Like the originals, these smooth- bore .75-cal. flintlocks feature brass hardware, oil-stained walnut stock and steel ramrod, barrel and lock. Barrel length: 42". Overall length: 58-1/4". Weight: 8-3/4 lbs.
Have had the "Bess" for about three weeks. Great shooter with round balls out to 40 yds. Still working on shotgun loads for small game. Overall I would highly recommend this gun to anyone who wants to burn BP and have some fun.
I am a history teacher and always wanted an American Revolutionary musket. This more than fills my expectations. It is beautifully crafted and matches the specs of the originals.I could not be happier with it. I'm shooting it this weekend. Can't wait to do a true demo for my history classes. It will be great.
I own two originals but wanted one to shoot. This is an excellent replica. Outstanding workmanship and Cabelas had the best price. Haven't had the chance to shoot it yet but will soon. I'd buy it again.
