A favorite for decades, the success of the Hula Popper comes from its fish-attracting commotion on top of the water and the lifelike action of its hula skirt. Working fast or creating a commotion in one place without moving the popper very far, trophy game fish have never been able to resist the Hula Popper. Per each. Sizes:
This is a great topwater lure, that is why I have two(Bass and Fire Tiger). I find it works great in the morning and at night. The fish can't get enough of the popping noise this lure makes. Lure works great by weed beds or down trees in the water. Have caught alot of bass(small and large) with this lure. Its a great buy.
Have have been using the hula popper since I was in my teens. I remember one fishing trip I went on with my dad, I was using this lure and after casting and just barely reeling it in I got a hit. The bass hit the lure so hard it shot it out of the water and never had a chance to grab on to it. I have been personally been using my grandfather's hula popper since he passed at least once every fishing trip. This particular lure was bought in the 60s and is still holding out strong.
The Hula Popper lure is the only one that I use. I been fishing for 40 years on lakes in Maine. This size Hula Popper and the size up from this, is my most successful lure. The Bass love it !!
When the bass are biting early in the morning, this seems to be the best lure to use. It works well in ponds/lakes where the underwater plants are thick by the bank. I usually don't get strikes from smaller fish with this lure. The dawn/dusk window is so small that it is of benefit to no have to hassle with the small fish. For the cost, this is a bargain. When they bite, they stay hooked on the double treble hooks. I prefer the red/white model, as I have caught more fish with the color combination.
