Think all stripping baskets are bulky and just get in the way? Here's a lightweight (1/2 lb.) stripping
basket that stores away when not in use. It even doubles as a wading belt and utility belt with multiple
lash points for holding tools. Belt is adjustable and breathable.
I bought the stripping basket for two purposes, for which it has worked great, especially for the price. The first is for use in my inflatable kayak, where previously I was casting line with one hand while untangling line from anchor line coils, oars, my toes, or anything else that might be on the bottom of the boat with my other. The basket has freed me to concentrate on the cast.
The second purpose is for holding shooting line when I am surf casting. I find that the running lines tend to be a mess anyway when using shooting heads, but this at least gets it out of the surf and most cast don't tangles. A bigger style basket might be better, but when consider the portability, comfort and price, this has been a great buy.
I bought this basket for a trip to Cabo. The versitility is great, it collapses to pack, fits nicley in rod and reel luggage, the basket is large enough to handle line as I was double handnded stripping in a rooster feeding frenzy, and easy to clean!
A little small if u have a vest with big front pockets down low, but works great. I fish small creeks for smallmouth and like how it folds up if I'm trekking through the woods. I bent weed eater string into a square "U" shape and pushed the fingers up through the bottom to keep my line coils from knotting up. Good light weight basket.
