As I & my eyes have aged, tying small sized 16 thru 22 flies has become more & more difficult . I have oft times considered the purchase of a magnifier lamp but have been put off by the base or clamp size, & the large frame surrounding the magnifying glass, etc. This unit by Carson is teriffic! Light weight, crystal clear optics, long gooseneck allows ease of adjustment which, by the way, stays exactly where you place it. The lack of a large frame around the glass provides great visibility of your work, I couldn't be more pleased with a product!

While just setting the unit up, I was impressed. Unit is light weight and not overpowering in size. It transfers easily from the clamp to the tying vise to allow closer vision and more range of motion. The three LEDs provide adequate light to the target area, and the 4X power spot provides an 'ants-eye' view of a very precise location.
Since the light/magnifier can be shifted easily to the provided clamp, it is highly adaptable for other uses, i.e. reel repair or even perhaps gunsmithing.
For those of us who have become dependent on glasses, this unit is definitely an asset. The price is more than reasonable for the value provided. Try it, you will like it!
