I didn't know how well these split ring pliars would work and took a chance buying them. I tried the pliars on several sizes of split rings and found that they are what every fisherman needs for their tackle box. It takes seconds to open the split rings,attach to a hard bait or a treble hook. This is a great item, should have bought this long ago.

tried inexpensive split ring pliers and found they just did not work well , spent a little extra on the Cobra pliers, big difference , you get what you pay for.

Cabela's Pro Series Split Ring Pliers

I purchased the pliers for heavy duty split rings for saltwater use. I found that the pliers do not hold the ring well when trying to attach a large hook and I had to use a second set of pliers to complete the process. The under-jaw is not the same length as the hook-jaw; therefore, it does not allow a good hold on the ring.
I have smaller pliers that have both jaws the same length and it holds the ring very well; however, it is not big enough for the heavy split rings.
I do not find this set of pliers suitable for heavy split rings even though it has longer jaws and large handles.
