Boat Buddy I/II

No more wet feet and no more ramp delays while you crank your boat onto your trailer. Boat Buddy allows you to simply drive your boat onto your trailer and the bow-eye contacts the Boat Buddy and triggers a spring-loaded, stainless steel pin through the bow eye. Your boat is automatically locked to your trailer. With Boat Buddy, you just drive on and pull out.

Boat Buddy I for boats up to 20 ft. with 3/8" bow eyes.
Boat Buddy II for boats 21 ft. and longer with 1/2" bow-eyes.

Boat Buddy - Amazing!

Purchased the Boat Buddy a couple of years ago. I am getting on up in age and need all the help I can get loading the 18 - 1/2 Champion in the Alabama River current. The Boat Buddy has never failed me, although some slight modifications have helped to make it more reliable and safe in my opinion. First, you need to be especially sure the angle and height of the boat buddy assumes correct contact with the eye bolt. I had to modify my mounting brackets (cut and weld) to assure it fit perfectly. If you take the time to assure a good fit, you will not be disappointed the results. Next, I fabricated what I call a light pod that bolts opposite the boat side of the winch. This is fabricated from a piece of 1 1/4 square tubing. It is bolted vertically in front of the winch and is tall enough so that I can see the top of the pod (about 2 1/2 feet tall) to line up the center of the front of the boat to the boat buddy (usually can't see the boat buddy or winch when the boat is almost on the trailer It goes out of sight making line-up difiicult). This makes you hit dead center without guessing. On the top of the pod, I have attached a LED light that can be activated by turning on the vehicle parking light. This light pod works great at night for center reference as I am coming on the trailer. Also, have electrical micro-switch attached to the Boat Buddy lock pin so that when the eye bolt trips the lock pin, the micro-switch activates a circuit that lights another LED light mounted on the top of the pod. When this light comes on, you know you are on the trailer at the right angle, the nose of the boat is centered, the Boat Buddy has locked, red light confirms lock so there is no guessing..... 100 % flawless.
Also, have side guides on trailer to aid in positioning trailer in stiff current. My loading time is usually around 10 seconds....Enjoy

I ordered a Boat Buddy I for my 20ft Malibu Response LXI based on what the technical rep in Cabela's suggested. He was correct based on the length of the boat, however when I installed it it was too small and the pin would hang up. I returned the boat buddy I and ordered a boat buddy II. Aside from the boat buddy II working excellent, Cabela took the used product and exchanged it for the larger boat buddy II. I'm very impressed with their customer satisfaction policy and I will order from them in the future. They really do right by their customers! The boat buddy II is an excellent product once you get the correct size. I recommend for 18ft boats and larger ordering the Boat Buddy II.

I've read a lot of reviews about this product some people love it some people hate it. But I have to say so far I LOVE IT!

Works exactly as promised.

Saves a lot of stress and hassle having to get out of the boat to get hooked up. No more wet feet, no more problem of not being quite on the trailer all the way to hook on.

It really makes me question why some many people don't like this product. I have to wonder did they install it correctly? Cause I'm not mechanic and it was a snap to install and works perfect every time for me.

For the price I have to say the Boat Buddy ll is extremely worth the money.

I haven't actually installed it on the trailer yet, but it comes well build and heavy duty. I have friends with them and they work great. They make one man loading real easy, plus it reduces the time it take to get out of the water.
