Tundra takedown stove

The stove was made better than I expected, no cheap materials . it was really easy to put together, and when it is together it is very sturdy and seems like the perfect unit for out base tent. I have not had a chance to use it yet. .

Tundra Stove in Alaknak 9.5 X 9.5 Wall Tent
Date:
Just completed 10 nights with a Tundra stove in an Alaknak II 9.5 X 9.5 wall tent. The stove provided all the heat needed for night temperatures from mid-30's to mid-teens. Used an 8-foot flue and had plenty of draft. A previous reviewer noted the lack of an ash tray as a drawback for cleaning the ashes out, so I made my own ash tray from galvanized steel and cleanup was no sweat. Note: to fit through the stove door, the ash tray needs to be two separate pieces. Also, rather than fill the stove with an inch of sand or dirt thin paving bricks were cut to size and worked well. The Tundra puts out a lot of heat if you fill it with wood, so there is a learning curve about how much wood is enough. To bank it overnight, a couple of 5 inch logs with the flue damper closed and the door damper shut down to about 1/4 inch gap worked well. Overall it's a great stove, packs nicely into a carrying case, and provides as much heat as you will need to keep the chill out.
