Buck Boiler gets a thumbs up
Date:
my buddy and I have been doing skull mounts for years and use the turkey fryer and chemicals..it is messy, eats up alot of time babysitting the fryer for boilovers, flame going out etc. i came across this buck boiler and we figured why not try it, the majority of reviews were positive...we used it this weekend and it worked flawlessly it is everything advertised in our experience. it is important to keep it out of the wind, the outside temp should be in the 70's or at least high 60's so it doesnt slow the boil time. we give it a thumbs up for its user friendly and easy clean up

This is a piece of junk. It worked reasonably well the first time. The directions tell to mix dish washing detergent with it to get it to boil but that eventually doesn't work. The directions also warn not to use too much detergent because it will trip the breaker but that never happened. It would be a great idea if it actually worked. Don't waste your money on this. I'm sure they will quit making these soon.

No Problems
Date:
I purchased one of these last fall when they first came out as an alternative to using a large stock pot. I was very impressed with how well it worked. I live in NW PA, and it was very cold last year. I did not use it outdoors, I used it in my garage, and depending on how cold it was, it would take anywhere from 10-20 hours to completely do a deer skull. I did 6 with it last year, and had no problems with it tripping the breaker. I used it on my first deer this year, and somehow it leaked water and burned up the cord. I purchased another one, and the set up of this years model is different, there are different instructions, and the new one takes alot longer ( the first deer I did took 2 days!). I still believe it is easier than doing it in a stock pot, and I do not know why others have had problems with it tripping the breaker. I also believe that they should have more reviews for this product, as I'm sure more than what is listed have been sold.

Will wish you hadn't!

I boil several skulls a year and was looking for something I could use outside my shop to cut down on odors and something that I didn't have to watch closely. This is not it! If the temperature is below 65 degrees outside the water is not too hot to put my bare hand in. That's not hot enough! I had a skull cap of an elk in it two days and still had to take in my shop to boil it afterward. I followed the instructions exactly! Expensive junk!
