I've used this product on a fox, deer and a bobcat hide. The first two turned out great, the bobcat, not so great. But it may have had something to do with how long I had the bobcat before I skinned it. Anyway, it woprked well on the other two, and the fox hide is fantastic.

5-7 days....um no. not even close. maybe if you just count from applying the solution to the hide it's true but if you start at the first step of salting the hide and the bath and rinse its 11 days for a deer hide. and make darn sure you can have undivided attention for the hide in the solution on the hide drying stage or you'll get a crunchy hide that can chop down trees when thrown.

Not so great results

I bought the 2 pack and did the first hide according to the instructions but had hair slippage. A lot of hair slippage. I thought maybe I had missed something, checked on the internet and just about every type of tanning said to pickle the hide. I checked the instructions again and it didn't mention pickling, just a salt bath so I thought maybe that was what this product required. I did a second hide and once again I had hair slippage, not as bad but enough to make it not usable in a complete hair on hide. I checked a taxidermy forum for their suggestion and they said time and again, with hair slippage, the common denominator is using dish detergent as a degreaser. This is what the instructions said to do. And what I did with both hides. Frustrated is what I am. The hides are a little stiff but tanned and still working them to soften, but both hides have parts that are hair on and parts hair off since the hair slipped. Don't think I will try again. This product needs a help/FAQ site for people using their product since instructions are not the most detailed. We harvested and cleaned the deer the hides came from so I know they were handled properly.

not real easy

I love Cabelas, I look to them for whatever I can that has to do with the hunting or outdoors. With that in mind, I found this product rather difficult to use, and the directions were hard to understand. I think that the directions could use more detail, given the price of the product. Maybe it was just inexperience with the product on my part, I don't know. But, my hide didn't turn out with a tan look, or soft and pliable. If I was to have another hide tanned, I'd leave it to a professional.
