slippery soft split rings

I have bought lots of split rings over the years but these were NOT good quality...
First of all they are coated with a slick substance which made them difficult to hold with the split ring pliers...
Secondly, when opened to accept the treble hook eye they tended to stay slightly bent open...
Good split rings are made of spring steel...these are made of some softer alloy I'm sure.
I would NOT recommend them...
