When the fish are finicky and all they'll bite on is the real thing, you'll always have the right bait on hand when you keep a supply of these preserved shad baits in your boat or tackle bag. They are sealed at their peak of freshness so they have all the scent, flavor, color and texture of live bait. Come approximately 35 per bag. Colors:(005)Red, (013)Natural, (096)Chartreuse.
I won't buy any preserved baits anymore. I tried shad on a whim and collected some interesting data. Used the shad to entice lake sturgeon to bite. Had a shad in the water for two hours with no bites. Removed shad and tossed it into the river. I watched a gull circle and swoop in to claim his prize of a whole, dead shad. He mouthed it for quite awhile before he spit it out and took off in a huff. If a gull won't eat it why would anything else?
Bait was firm but very flakey. Gave it a good try on an eight hour blue cat trip with zero results on this bait. Fresh shrimp, nightcrawlers, and fresh cut shad all worked much better. Was hoping for a reliable bait for spur of the moment trips with the easy packaging and storability.
Did not work well for pike or bass fishing. Tried to use for chum for stripers, also without success. Smell is pretty bad. Should have tried for catfish?
This bait smells terrible and I didn't get any bites with it. The bait doesn't move realistically in the water, it is too stiff. The bass weren't impressed. Waste of time and money. I ended up throwing away most of it because of the stench.
