I bought the 758 box over one year ago so I have a season of boat fishing with it. I was previously using an 8616 that is the biggest double hip roof type box that I have seen listed anywhere.
The 758 holds everything that was in the 8616 with room to spare. It does not take up as much room as the 8616 in the boat when it is opened. Since it is possible to open one drawer or the lid individually. It is not necessary to expose everything in the box to the wind and rain to get something out as it is with the double hip roof type box.
The top section under the lid has room for smaller boxes such as the "StowAway" and/or the "Magnum" boxes by Plano that are not included with the 758. I have 11 of these boxes in the top for small items as well as several small plugs, spinner lures, trolling spoons and casting spoons that are neatly hung up on the removable racks that are included with the 758. There is still a little room left in the top section.
Another nice feature is that one of the drawers has 7 spaces that will accommodate 4 of the Cabela's Spinner/Snell Holders perfectly in each one. I use these holders to store my various bottom bouncer rigs.
There is also sections in more than one of the drawers that will accommodate my very large northern pike/muskie fishing plugs and 7 inch long spinner baits.
For those who like tackle boxes with drawers, this is the best I've found. It's strong, has a good handle and holds a lot of lures and gear. Not 5 stars because I dropped one from 5 feet and shattered the top. With the amount of weight in it, probably nothing but metal could have survived the fall. I bought another one!
I have had this tackle box for years, and love it. It has plenty room up top for soft plastics, filleting knife, spare spools, scale, sharpener, line, etc, etc. The drawers will carry a multitude of multi species lures, and are deep enough to store your polarized glasses, if their profile is not too big. There are racks uptop for spinner & buzz baits (removeable). You can even fit smaller plano boxes in the drawers and uptop for smaller lures (jigs, etc) and terminal tackle. You can hang your pliers, etc. on the exterior, and the unit is tall enough that they are easily excessable. I have put this box through all kinds of abuse and it has never failed me. In short will haul a ton of gear for an excellent price, I even liked it so much, I bought one for my father!
