Many years ago I would have line breakage problems with conventional split rings,as the split in the ring would cut the line.The solution: these round-end snaps.In salmon-steelhead plug fishing these were standard connections found on the famous Eddie Pope Hot Shot.These snaps are strong and allow maximum action and will not cut the knot.So now I NEVER tie my line to any split ring,but always use these type of snaps.PROBLEM SOLVED.Save the split rings for attaching hooks to lures.
