These Wire Quick Connectors are the best wire connectors we have
found for 6- through 16-gauge wire. Simple to install and provides a solid connection, even on large 6-gauge wire. Connects and disconnects with a positive locking snap.
I used these connects for connecting 6 AWG wire to my 10 AWG tolling motor wire to extend it.
Initially, I used my high quality Blue Point torch/solder gun to try to work with the solder. It proved to be a pain and very time consuming.
A map gas torch was the answer to attaching the wire to the push connectors. I placed some solder in the cones on the end of the connectors, heated until the solder melted and pushed the wire in until it was fully extended in the cone.
Once this was done and the metal connectors were fully pushed into the plastic connectors, both ends snapped firmly together. This will make removing the trolling motor from the boat much easier and may prevent future theft.
These quick connectors are very high quality and dependable, I'd recommend them in a heart beat. You only need to realize that you do need a good quality, medium duty soldering iron or gun to put the connectors on your trolling motor wires...
These connectors are a great way to quickly attach you trolling motor to the battery. They work great on 6 gauge wire, but anything in a higher gauge, you need to crimp, then solder them. You also need to drill a 1/8 hole in the side of the sleeve area to get the solder to completely flow and surround the wire, no matter what gauge you are using. You can make multiple harnesses for different batteries on board and switch when one gets low or just switch the harness. Put a little di-electric grease on the contact points to make the disconnect easier. They snap together with a good solid connection. Great way to take the trolling motor off the boat without having to loosen terminals and fumble around, and then have to reconnect at a later point.
GREAT CONNECTORS AND THE BEST I HAVE SEEN. THESE WERE EASY TO INSTALL IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS. I DID NOT SORDIER THE LUGSAS IT SAID TO. I USED A PROFESSIONAL INDUSTRIAL GRADE CRIMPING TOOL WHICH WORKED GREAT. EASY TO PUT TOGATHERAND THEY STAY TOGATHER. WILL BUY ANOTHER SET FOR OTHER ITEMS AS I AM ALWAYS REBUILDING BOATS AND REPAIRS.
