Tica Surf Casting Rods

High-modulus TC2 graphite blanks give these casting rods the superior castability, backbone and sensitivity avid surf casters demand from their rods. Heat-treated stainless steel guides and rings reduce friction and prevent rust and corrosion to reduce line friction for smooth, accurate long-distance casts. The lightweight, high-quality graphite reel seat locks the reel securely in place without extra weight. They also have comfortable cork tape grips.

Disappointing

I bought this rod looking for a light, strong pole for casting plugs and metals. While the rod handled this well enough, I was totally crushed when I found myself into a long-awaited bluefish blitz. On the 4th hookup, the lower portion of the pole snapped below the connection. I've caught numerous blues and stripers on my other poles and never had a mishap. This pole is fine if you're surf fishing for smaller stuff like kingfish, croakers and fluke, but you may want to think twice about going after anything larger.

Over rated but nice to use

I own the 12' 4-10oz model and love to use it. However, the 4-10oz rating is far too high for this rod. It is quite comfortable throwing 6oz + a chunk but not a good rod for weights higher than 6oz. It is light and well constructed and backed by Ticas unmatched service. Great as a beginner conventional rod paired with a light reel.

i would recomend this rod its very nice and light weight i have the 10' rod and i could cast as much weight off of it as i want and its very sensitive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased a Tica surf rod a couple of years ago. The 10'6 UEHA632002S. It's okay if you use a mid-size reel and stick to 12-15 lb test line. The 2-8 oz lure thing must be a joke or a mistake. using this rod you can't lift, much less throw, a bait that weighs more than 4 ounces and that's pushing it. Otherwise, it's light, fairly strong and won't wear you out.
