Berkley® Fireline® Braid – 110 yards

All the fish-catching qualities of Fireline in an easy-to-manage round braid. Fisherman-friendly, it spools and lays perfectly on baitcasting reels. It ties easier knots than monofilament, makes smoother casts and stays hassle-free in any kind of weather. Don't let the small diameter fool you – Fireline Braid delivers excellent abrasion resistance, plus it is three times stronger than monofilaments. 110-yard spool.

Worst line ever.
Date:
I bought the strongest option. (40 Lb) the 110 yards didn't even fill my 1/2 my reel. Last night a giant cat hit my line, almost yanked my pole out of the holder, the bell was going crazy, picked up the pole set the hook, 5 seconds into the fight line broke. SpiderWire is a better value and WAY stronger.

Love the "tracer" style.
Date:
I admit, I picked this up because it looks cool, and used to love the original Fireline "smoke" color back in the mid 90's, and it was great on spinning gear.
I have the 4/15 lb. on a spinning rod setup and it will stay there, with fluoro leaders and a swivel for whatever I feel like tying on, although that 4/15 diameter is a little thin for drop shot weights. Best to use 6-8 mono for that technique.
It casts great, looks cool, is tough enough to haul any fish out, as well as some branches and small rocks.
The 12/50 lb. tracer was tried out on a baitcaster, and it did great for flipping jigs, as well as launching crankbaits, but I took it off and went back to P-Line "Halo", because I like the versatility of it better.
It also hauls and throws a LOT of water, so it must absorb it. I doubt it would be managable at all in freezing temps, but then what gear is?
I guess if you are a very technical line watcher, the staggered green-yellow-green could come in handy, to tell if your bait has hit the bottom, or is in a fishes mouth...Like weightless Senkos.

The best Fireline yet
Date:
First, I have to say that even as a longtime Power Pro fan, I really like this new Fireline Braid.
In the past, Fireline was thicker for a given pound test than Power Pro, and it tended to delaminate with use.
The cross section of the old line was quite flat and because it wasn't woven, hooks could slip between the fibers quite easily.
It also quickly developed a fuzzy look that made you wonder if it was still as strong as it was when new.
Despite these short comings it was still a very useful product and when I couldn't get Power Pro I bought Fireline without any regrets.
This new line seems to answer all of those old concerns and more.
For those of you who like trivia, Power-pro is a four strand braid.
A four strand braid produces an oval thread.
The eight strand braid, that Fireline is using, should in theory produce a much rounder line.
Some other Braids that I have used are quite loosely woven.
This causes problems when hook points penetrate the weave when you hook a lure to the hook keeper or when rods are lying together on the deck etc.
So far the new Fireline seems to be a good tight weave that hook points don't easily snag.
The Tracer feature is alternating chartreuse and dark green sections of line. Each section is 2.5 feet long.
I think this feature will be great for bait fishing and weightless Senko's etc. in short, anywhere you are trying to detect subtle line movement...
The water where I was fishing is an olive tone, the dark green sections of the line were invisible against it, but the chartreuse was easy to see.
Against clear water the opposite might be true.
At any rate, the light/dark pattern made it very easy for me to see any movement in the line.
I will be ordering more of this!
