good functionality, poor durability
Date:
The good: This tent is an excellent design for keeping out rain and bugs. it is easy to put up. Has a large roof so rain doesn't get in unless there is a strong wind. Very roomy.
The bad: The thickness of the material has decrease very recently, so it no longer keeps out all the sun or all the rain.
The ugly: I have used it at Assateague Island extensively over many years. Occasional high winds there will trash it quickly regardless of how many lines are used to tie it. The engineering design defects are the pole joints which break and tent pole sleeves which rip. My last one was destroyed by a strong wind gust. Wenzel would not honor their 10 year warranty despite the tent being only a few weeks old. The purpose of a tent is to protect from weather, so you cannot use "weather" as an out for not honoring warranties. HOWEVER Cabelas did honor it and has sent a replacement - which is one reason why I like buying from them.
For most camping this is a 5 star tent, but my needs (Assateague) bring it down to 3 star.
