I really liked the way this looked. The first time I used it I had a stringer full of fish but when I went to pull the stringer out of the water, one of the loops snapped and I lost the whole string. I tried and tried to get the fish back but I couldn't. So I cannot recommend this item because not only did it cost me a lot of fish, it caused me to be a poor sportsman.
All of the snaps needed sharpening and 1 fell apart while sharpening. The so called stainless and brass is rusting just from being in the boat and it's freshwater, not salt. Way too much money for the quality.
I bought it to use in the flatbottom so I wouldn't have to deal with rust. It's been less than one season and the cllips are completely rusted; some of them won't even open anymore. I could have bought a half a dozen cheap ones and just thrown them away when rusty for a lot less money.
The design of this stringer is excellent. The main cable could hold a Tuna -- and I really like the sliding snaps -- very useful in adding fish without getting those already on into a frenzy. However, I found the individual snaps to be cheaply made - one broke off completely, and another I had to adjust with pliers to get it to work. Poor quality control on the snaps for the price. If they made better snaps I would rate it 5+++, as I really like the design and found it quite useful.
Worst part is that mine was stolen, along with a 4 1/2 and 3 lb Rainbow, whille I moved upstream and fished another spot for about a 1/2 hour. As it is, I will probably replace it.
