This was my first fly I have ever used. About two months ago I bought this but in a yellow color at Cabela's with my first fly rod. I went out with my Dad to a lake where we have barely any luck. My first cast and a nice hand sized blue gill hit it! After that fish where just hammering it! Over all I cought around 25-30 fish in 2 1/2 hours. I cought Bluegill, Largemouth bass, perch, and some crappie. On one cast I when I was swinging my fly rod back and forth the fly barely touched the water and a huge fish crabbed the fly and brok my line. I was ticked off! Over all this is my first and probably one of the best flys I and you could own.
I fish in a small pond near my office over the lunch hour and stumbled on these flies as part of the variety pack. Instantly noticed an elevated success rate over any other bugger/streamer and the best part, they catch everything from the 1/4 lbs bluegill to aggressive 8 lbs catfish. Bass just smack them. Have returned to Cabelas buy a dozen more.
I used these in white size 8 to do some summer smallmouth stream fishing. they love these things!!! The white ones perfectly imitate the emerald shiners that they were eating. I have caught up to 10 fish on this fly, and it still looks like new!
I have had the opportunity to use these several times already, and they are terrific. I have caught 20+ trout on one of these, and it is still like new. The hook is as sharp as the day I got it, and the body is still flawless. I will buy more if these ever wear out.
