Pinnacle Hunting Boots

I log a lot of miles during mild-weather hunts. Spring turkeys, archery pronghorn, even elk in the mountains. I need footwear that is lightweight, but packed with features that let me keep hunting no matter the weather conditions or terrain. Lacing up the Pinnacles for the first time, they reminded me of high-top athletic shoes of old. They are incredibly comfortable and so light that you really don't think you're wearing hunting boots at all. There was no break-in period to speak of. I first tested them in the pine-covered hills of northwest Nebraska during spring turkey season. You have to cover a lot of ground calling birds in these hills, but the lightweight, full-grain leather and camo nylon panel uppers kept a spring in my step all day. The added protection of the rubber toe cap and molded heel counter is a nice plus, especially in rocky, uneven terrain.

I tried them again in Wyoming, hunting pronghorn in miserable conditions. It was cold and wet for a week in early fall, and I really appreciated the waterproof lining in the Pinnacles. Despite the weather, we hunted hard all day, and needed to stay dry and mobile. My feet never got wet. Finally, I tested the Pinnacle in warm weather in Texas, bowhunting whitetails on the ground. The Scent-Lok membrane in these boots helped complete my scent-control precautions to get within archery range of deer. For under a hundred bucks, you'll be hard-pressed to find boots with GORE-TEX and Scent-Lok in a lightweight, leather/camo package that can beat the Pinnacles.
