It wasn't long before I felt the first of what would be a deluge of moisture that day, and pulled out the Parka and Pants. Both have a durable and water-resistant Tuffwear nylon shell treated with a Polytex® weather-resistant finish. All the seams are heat-tape-sealed to block out any chance for water seepage. As an added bonus, both the Parka and Pants fit neatly into the chest pocket of the Parka taking up minimal space in your pack.

Cabela's Packable Nylon Rain Gear not only protected me from a full downpour at 9,300 ft., but also prevented the big, wet snowflakes from chilling me to the bone at 10,000 ft. The temperature may have been in the mid-40s, but inside the Parka I was breaking a sweat as my team climbed in elevation. The mesh lining allowed water vapor to escape, keeping me dry. I tightened the hood's adjustable drawcord to keep the water off my face and collar. Two large, front mesh-lined pockets with protective storm flaps offered my hands a dry, warm sanctuary, especially when we stopped along the trail for a breather.

Likewise, Cabela's Packable Nylon Rain Pants were put to the test as well. The alpine tundra was completely sopped. With every step another layer of water brushed on my legs. That water from the mountain vegetation just rolled off these Pants back onto the ground. The snap-adjustable cuffs kept water from working its way between my boots and socks.
