Kansas Hunter's Education teaches new hunters to be ethical, safe, and knowledgeable.
 
The course consists of subjects covering hunter responsibility, ethics, fair chase, history of firearms, firearms basics, ammunition, basic gun safety, field safety, bowhunting, conservation and wildlife management, wildlife of Kansas, outdoor emergencies, Kansas hunting regulations and boating safety for hunters.
 
Where possible, students may live fire and/or go through simulated hunting conditions.

Students are required to attend all sessions and must arrive on time. There will be a field day portion on Sunday and students are asked to dress appropriately for weather conditions. The field day will consist of live fire (Pellet Range), 5-Actions, and simulated hunting situations.
 
Minimum age to be certified is 11 years old.
 
Please bring a sack lunch or you can eat at the Cabela’s deli if you prefer for Saturday.

Hunter education is not just for kids and not just for hunters. The program is for all folks who enjoy the outdoors and have an interest in conservation. The course can also be an excellent refresher for veteran hunters.

Concealed Carry Licensure Course Ongoing, See Details 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Conference Room
SRT Group is scheduling classes for the Kansas Concealed Handgun Training at the Cabela’s located in Wichita, Kansas. Kansas state law requires that applicants for a concealed carry handgun license complete a state approved eight hour training class prior to applying for their CCH license. SRT Group’s instructors are primarily law enforcement officers and all are Kansas and Missouri State certified with significant training and experience. They also have one of the only full-time certified female instructors on staff.
 
Cost of the training class is $65.00. This includes all range time, training manual, law copies, certificates, targets and use of handgun if needed. All classroom instruction is done at Cabela’s of Wichita and the firearms/range work is done at local nearby range. A local indoor range is used during the winter and for inclement weather.
 
Students need to bring the following:
 
Handgun, revolver or semi- auto, 50 rounds of ammunition, holster, eye and ear protection (SRT can provide if needed at no cost), Kansas Identification of Drivers License.

Cabela’s is proud to provide support for area charities and conservation partners. Due to the large volume of requests received, we have established a policy for all donations. Our retail program supports nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations located within 100 miles of this retail store. All requests must be submitted online for consideration at least forty-five days prior to the event.

In order to assist the largest number of organizations annually, we can consider only one donation request per organization, per calendar year.
