Concealed Firearm Permit Classes for Utah, Arizona or Wisconsin permits Presented by Legal Heat Inc. Feb. 11, Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Second Floor by Elevators
This is a concealed firearm permit class that has been specifically designed to qualify students to obtain several different concealed firearm permits, among which are the Utah, Arizona, and Wisconsin permits. At the end of this four hour class, you will be qualified to carry in up to 38 states. This fun, informative course is taught by Legal Heat, the nation's top provider of concealed carry training, and the cost is only $75.00.

Everything you need to apply for the permits will be included in this class, including passport-sized photographs, photocopies of picture ID’s, fingerprint cards, and pre-addressed envelopes.

We will cover handgun safety, basic shooting fundamentals, concealment techniques, and the important state and Federal laws relating to owning, transporting, purchasing, selling, and defending oneself with a firearm.

Hunters Safety Certification “Field Day” Class Feb. 19, Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 2nd Floor Conference Room
Registration is open for the 1 day Hunters Safety Class – “Field Day” is a newer format.

To attend first you need to complete the online portion on the IDNR website to receive a Voucher number. Choose from one of the authorized providers, www.hunter-ed.com or www.hunterexam.com, and a form of valid identification. Children who do not have their own ID must have parents or guardians show ID on their behalf.

Proceed to email Diane at Diane.Schneider@Cabelas.com to register for the class. Include your name, phone number and email with your voucher number. Class size is 35 students and you will receive an email to confirm your spot for the class.

It is the policy of IDNR that youth under the age of ten (10) must be accompanied to and during the safety education courses by an adult or guardian at least sixteen (16) years of age. Attendance of this safety education training and passing the written test will complete your certification of this course.

A 5 Hour Formal Pistol Course, which teaches the student 3 calibers of handgun. Weather Class -‘Weather’ or Not to go Boating January 25 - April 18 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. 2nd Floor Conference Room
The course focuses on how weather systems form, behave, move, and interact with one another and reflects the availability of all sorts of weather reports and forecasts on the Internet. This course on weather will benefit those sitting in their living rooms, as much as those standing behind the helm.

Each student receives a USPS Weather Manual, explanatory text with full color photographs and drawings covering weather in the United States and its coastal and inland waters; a set of three Daily Weather Maps, learning aids with a complete explanation of map symbols designed to develop weather map reading and analysis skills; NOAA’s Sky Watcher Chart, a reference to assist in identifying cloud types, helpful indicators of approaching weather; and a Davis Quick Reference for Weather Forecasting.

This 12-week course is taught by the United States Power Squadrons, American’s largest non-profit boating organization. The cost of the course is $187 for non-members of USPS and $100 for USPS members. Registration by January 18, please send an email to USPS.FoxValley@gmail.com. Include your name and telephone number. America’s Boating Course (ABC)

Whether you are a new boater or an experienced boater, you can enhance your boating pleasure by taking a boat safety course. The United States Power Squadrons (USPS) is America’s largest, non- profit boating organization. USPS is pleased to invite you to attend a 5-week boat safety course to help you fully enjoy your boat.

The course covers state boating laws and safety requirements, basic boat handling and navigation, dropping anchor, boat launching and retrieving, knots and lines, checking equipment and handling emergencies.

Handgun Training for the Beginner Friday Dates through July 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 2nd Floor Conference Room / Shooting Range
6 hour In-Depth handgun class session plus a 1 hour range session.

Course Includes:
  •   Instruction Manual
  •   Hands-On Revolver and Pistol familiarization
  •   Cartridge Components and Construction of regular and +P ammo. Discussion of where to locate cartridge identification on the cartridge and the ammo box. The possible cartridge malfunctions that may occur when shooting.
  •   Gun Handling Skills- safely loading and unloading of firearms, Proper handling while in private and in public, Range Commands.
  •   Shooting Skills- Done with Lazer Technology in Classroom to illustrate what must be done to be a successful Bulls eye shooter.
  •   Proper cleaning and lubrication discussion and demonstration.
  •   Range Session- use of different calibers in revolvers and semi-auto handguns.

Cabela’s is proud to provide support activities that include the youth in hunting, fishing, camping also for area charities and conservation partners. Due to the large volume of requests received, we have established policy for all donations. Our retail program supports non profit 501( c ) (3) organizations located within Illinois. All requests must be mailed on official letterhead of the beneficiary at least forty-five days prior to the event date. Requests can be mailed to:
