Lightweight and sturdy pair of binoculars with built in IR , I hunt much easier now that my hands are free. Good quality image.

Upgrade from Previous Model

I used to have the previous version of these goggles - ATN Night Cougar for many years. And that unit still works great, but I decided to upgrade it to 2011 model, and I'm not disappointed.

It seems that one cannot expect the Gen 1+ night vision device to get better since they all use the same type of tube. However, the image quality of the new Cougar XT looks clearer to me, may be its because ATN uses better optics now. Also the new design is much more ergonomic and it feels better when wearing these goggles on a headgear. I haven't really tested how shockproof and water resistant this device is because I handle all my toys with care, but this unit seems really durable and I hope it will serve me many years.

Overall: great value for the money.
